The Czech National Semiconductor Cluster, the Czech Semiconductor Center at Brno University of Technology, and the business and investment support agency CzechInvest have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of semiconductors. Together, they aim to contribute to the development of the Czech semiconductor value chain in line with the National Semiconductor Strategy 2029 and the objectives of the EU Chips Act, strengthen the Czech Republic’s position in the European and global semiconductor ecosystem, attract investment, and support the integration of domestic companies into international value chains. They confirmed their cooperation on May 19 at the Czech Investment Forum, which took place as part of the international Czech Semicon Days 2026 forum organized by CzechInvest.
All three institutions are committed to making the domestic semiconductor ecosystem a transparent, visible, and investment-ready partner for both Europe and global players. The goal is to better coordinate activities related to the implementation of the National Semiconductor Strategy and increase the semiconductor sector’s contribution to the national economic strategy. The memorandum therefore aims not only at coordination but primarily at concrete results: new projects and investments, greater involvement of Czech companies in international supply chains, and faster technology transfer into practice.
“The Czech Republic has a long industrial tradition in semiconductors, high-quality research capabilities, and technological know-how. This is a highly strategic and dynamic sector with high added value. To transform this potential into concrete projects
and investment opportunities, we need to better connect companies, universities, research organizations, regions, and the state. The memorandum creates a framework for coordinated cooperation aimed at developing the semiconductor value chain, preparing joint projects, and engaging domestic companies in international partnerships,” said Jan Michal, CEO of CzechInvest.
“The position of the Czech semiconductor value chain cannot grow without active participation in key European initiatives such as the European Chips Act, particularly its Pillar I—the Chips for Europe Initiative—as well as IPCEI and the preparation of the Chips Act 2.0, and as well as on global strategic partnerships. Cooperation with CzechInvest in line with key national strategies will contribute to their acceleration. The cluster, as a member of the Silicon Europe Alliance or SEMI, will provide an expert foundation, a position within the EU, and expertise. “The memorandum, including the role of the Czech Semiconductor Center within Pillar I, will enable the synchronization of efforts to build a strong position not only for the strongest players but also for disruptive technologies—such as the convergence of energy networks, AI, and semiconductors—which benefit SMEs, startups, and spin-offs,” said Stanislav Černý, President of the Czech National Semiconductor Cluster.
In the area of foreign investment and partnerships, the organizations will collaborate on jointly promoting the Czech semiconductor ecosystem abroad and on preparing roadshows, including aligning communication and substantive arguments. The collaboration will also include education, research, and innovation, particularly support for education and retraining in the semiconductor sector.
Another significant aspect will be supporting the application of semiconductor technologies in sectors where they can have a direct impact on the competitiveness of industry and public infrastructure. The signatories of the memorandum plan to organize workshops, seminars, and matchmaking events, as well as support the development of new innovative companies and the integration of domestic firms into value chains.
“The Czech Semiconductor Center was established with the aim of supporting Czech startups, small and medium-sized enterprises,
and research organizations in accessing European semiconductor infrastructure, services, and partnerships under the EU Chips Act. Part of our role also involves collaborating with other European centers of excellence and connecting the Czech ecosystem with initiatives related to the European Chips Act. The goal is also to increase cooperation between universities and industry through the development of mutually beneficial areas. “We view the memorandum with CzechInvest and the Czech National Semiconductor Cluster as an important step toward better coordination of activities across industry, academia, and the public sector, and toward fulfilling the goals of the Czech Republic’s National Semiconductor Strategy,” added Petr Kamenický, Director of the Czech Semiconductor Center at Brno University of Technology (Czech Semiconductor Center).
